How Long Does Your Hair Need to Be for a Bikini Wax?

One of the most frequent questions I get asked is: “How long should my hair be before I book a wax?”

Here’s the short answer: about the length of a grain of rice (roughly ¼ inch or 5mm).

If it’s too short, the wax won’t be able to grip properly, and you won’t get the smooth, long-lasting results you’re looking for. If it’s too long, don’t worry — I’ll trim it down for you before we start.

Why Length Matters

✔️ Too short = wax can’t grip → patchy results.
✔️ Just right = smooth, thorough removal.
✔️ Too long = slightly more discomfort, but still fixable in the salon.

Don’t Stress About It

If you’re not sure whether your hair is the “right” length, just book in anyway. It’s my job to assess and make adjustments. The important thing is that you don’t shave between waxes — shaving resets your hair growth cycle and makes your next wax less effective.

Quick Tip for First-Timers:

If you’ve been shaving, give it 2–3 weeks of growth before booking your first wax. That way, you’ll get the best possible results from day one.

Smooth skin isn’t about perfection — it’s about letting me work with what’s there. Leave the details to me, and you’ll leave silky.
