First Time Getting a Bikini Wax? Here’s Exactly What to Expect
Let’s be honest — getting your first bikini wax can feel like a big deal. Whether you’re nervous about the pain, unsure how much to take off, or wondering if you’re meant to make small talk (spoiler: you absolutely don’t have to), you’re not alone.
At The Bikini Wax Specialist, I want you to feel prepared and empowered before you ever step foot in the room. So here’s a quick breakdown of what to expect:
Before Your Appointment
- Let the hair grow — about a grain of rice in length is ideal (approx. 3–4 weeks of growth).
- Avoid shaving or trimming beforehand. It makes waxing less effective.
- Exfoliate gently the day before to help prevent ingrown hairs.
During Your Wax
- You’ll be welcomed into a calm, clean space — no judgement, ever.
- I’ll explain what’s happening step-by-step, and check in with you as we go.
- Expect some brief discomfort, but nothing unbearable — most clients say it’s far easier than they feared.
Aftercare Basics
- Keep cool - Skip hot baths/showers, sun exposure and gym sessions for 24 hours.
- Keep loose - baggy, loose underwear and bottoms are best for after a wax. Zero restriction on your freshly waxed skin.
- Keep smooth - Exfoliate gently a few days later to keep ingrown hairs at bay. Then every few days after that until your next wax.
First wax done? You’ll leave feeling fresher, lighter, and wondering why you didn’t do it sooner. And don’t worry — I’ve seen it all, waxed it all, and I’m here to keep you feeling confident every step of the way.
